Sarah Delfas qualified with the Iyengar Yoga Introductory Level 2 certificate in 2002 and achieved the Junior Intermediate Level 2 qualification in 2016. She is indebted to the profound work of BKS Iyengar who over many years studied the asanas in such depth and shared his findings with an infinite generosity that has given us a practice of yoga that is safe and available to all. The more she practises yoga the more she realises that the journey into each asana and beyond is endless and that there is always more to refine and more to discover. Sarah is fascinated by connections – those within the asana and between the asanas - and beyond - are a source of wonder and what makes practicing yoga never dull. Continually developing her own yoga practice and using her own work on the more advanced poses to keep reflecting back to the basic ones is, for her, fundamental to being a good teacher. She is currently working on her Intermediate Junior level 3 certificate and attends regular classes with senior Iyengar teacher Brenda Booth in Kent, as well as several workshops a year with other senior Iyengar teachers from the UK and India. The latter have included Geeta Iyengar and Abhijata Iyengar, Zubin Zarthoshtimanesh, Birjoo Mehta, Jawahar Bangera, Devki Desai and Stephanie Quirke.
Sarah believes that Iyengar yoga is accessible to everyone, thanks to its use of props and exploration of different approaches to asanas. She hopes that her students discover more about themselves through their yoga practice and her aim is for her classes to carry the "friendliness, compassion, gladness and joy" of Patanjali's Yoga Sutra 1.33.
“Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” BKS Iyengar
