Sarah Delfas discovered Iyengar Yoga in 1990 and qualified as a teacher in 2002. She attends classes with senior Iyengar teachers from the UK and India, has studied at the RIMYI Institute in Pune and holds the Iyengar Yoga Level 3 certificate.
Sarah is indebted to the Iyengar family whose work has given a practice and way of teaching that is safe and accessible to all. She enjoys bringing yoga to all ages and abilities, to beginners and experienced students.
Sarah is married with 4 children and aims to teach with “friendliness, compassion, gladness and joy” (Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra 1.33).
Iyengar Yoga Classes
Iyengar yoga is so named because of BKS Iyengar whose lifetime dedication and study of the yoga asanas resulted in yoga becoming accessible to all. Iyengar yoga teachers undergo rigorous training and assessment to teach in a safe and disciplined way. There is emphasis on alignment and work is always towards the health and benefit of body, mind and breath. Props are sometimes used either to help a student having difficulties to approach the asana, to modify asanas in the case of injury or illness or as learning tools to deepen understanding.
Please note that under current Covid-19 guidelines all classes must be booked in advance – prices reflect the current need to limit class numbers and when lockdown is eased there will be reduced rates for blocks of classes booked in advance. From time to time I run 4 week foundation courses for complete beginners – please get in touch if you are interested.
